How to convert a video to a GIF

Drop your video onto the box above (or click to choose it). The converter loads once (~32 MB) on first use, then builds the GIF in your browser at 10 fps and 480px wide. A preview appears with a Download button — no upload, no sign-up.

Tips for a smaller GIF

GIFs grow fast with length and size, so keep clips to a few seconds for the best result. If your source is long, trim it first — a 2–4 second loop at 480px stays sharp while remaining small enough to drop into chats, docs, or social posts.

Questions

Is it private — is my video uploaded?
Yes, it's private: the GIF is built entirely in your browser with ffmpeg.wasm, so your video never leaves your device. Nothing is uploaded to or stored on a server.
Is there a file size limit?
There's no hard limit, but ffmpeg.wasm runs in browser memory, so large or long videos (roughly over 150 MB) are slow and can run out of RAM. GIFs balloon in size quickly, so short clips work best — trim your video first for a snappy result.
What size and frame rate is the GIF?
We render at 10 frames per second and scale the width to 480 pixels (keeping the aspect ratio), using the lanczos filter for clean scaling. That keeps the GIF smooth yet small enough to share.
