Boxes needed13boxes
Total coverage bought28.60m²
Area with waste27.50m²
Boxes needed = room area × (1 + waste ÷ 100) ÷ coverage per box, rounded up. For a 25 m² room with 10% waste and boxes that cover 2.2 m²: 25 × 1.10 ÷ 2.2 = 12.5, rounded up to 13 boxes. The waste allowance covers cuts at walls, the offcut wastage of plank patterns and a few spare boards.
Questions
How many boxes of flooring do I need?
Multiply the room area by your waste allowance, divide by the coverage per box, then round up. A 25 m² room with 10% waste and 2.2 m² boxes needs 13 boxes.
How much waste should I add?
Around 10% is typical for straight-laid floors; allow up to 15% for diagonal or herringbone layouts and busy rooms with lots of cuts.
