Slugify — Text to URL Slug
Turn any title into a clean, lowercase, URL-safe slug.
Accented letters are folded to plain ASCII (é → e), symbols are removed, and spaces become your chosen separator. Each line becomes its own slug. Runs in your browser.
How to make a URL slug
Paste a title or sentence into the box. The slug appears instantly: lowercase, symbols stripped, accents folded to ASCII, and spaces replaced by your chosen separator. Paste several titles, one per line, to slug a whole batch at once.
Why slugs matter
A clean slug makes URLs readable and keyword-rich, which helps both users and search engines. Lowercasing and replacing spaces avoids the broken, percent-encoded links that raw titles produce.
Questions
What happens to accented or non-English letters?
Accented Latin letters are folded to their plain ASCII base, so "Café" becomes "cafe". Characters with no ASCII equivalent are dropped, leaving a slug made only of letters, digits and your separator.
Can I use underscores instead of hyphens?
Yes. Choose hyphen or underscore as the word separator. Hyphens are the convention for SEO-friendly URLs, while underscores are common for file names and anchors.
