Angle of view°
In radiansrad

Angle of view = 2 · atan(sensor ÷ (2 · f)), in degrees. Use the sensor's width (36 mm on full frame) for the horizontal angle, its height (24 mm) for the vertical angle, or its diagonal (≈ 43.3 mm) for the diagonal angle. A 50 mm lens across a 36 mm full-frame width gives 2 · atan(36 ÷ 100) ≈ 39.60°. A longer focal length narrows the angle; a larger sensor widens it.

Questions

How do I calculate angle of view?
Angle of view = 2 × arctan(sensor dimension ÷ (2 × focal length)). Plug in the sensor width for horizontal FoV, the height for vertical, or the diagonal for the diagonal angle.
What sensor dimension should I enter?
Full-frame (35 mm) is 36 mm wide, 24 mm tall, with a ~43.3 mm diagonal. APS-C is about 23.6 × 15.7 mm. Enter whichever dimension matches the angle you want.
